"St. Paul Lutheran Church is called to be an Inviting, Christ-Centered, Spiritually-Growing and Community-Serving church where we are led by love to implement Jesus' teachings."
Close but no cigar as the saying goes. St. Paul lost to Hope Black and Blue Sport Ministries by identical scores of 11-12. That makes 3 loses by a total of 4 runs, and a one run victory. So all games decided by a total of 5 runs. Close games but … Almost half the total runs in each game have been scored in the first inning. On May 30 both Hope Black and St. Paul scored 5 times in the first inning. The each scored one in the second. Hope charged ahead for an 11-6 lead after 5 innings. Hope scored once and St. Paul 3 times in the 6 th  to make it 12-9. In the 7 th  St. Paul scored twice but could not get that tying or winning run over the plate. James Wagner was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI’s while almost everyone else had 2 hits. Next game, June 6, first inning Blue Sport 4, St. Paul 5. St. Paul built a 9-4 lead before Blue Sport scored 5 in the 4 th  to tie. St. Paul scored once to regain a 10-9 lead. Blue Sport added 3 in the 5 th  to make it 12-10. But while they were held scoreless the last two innings, St. Paul could only garner a single run in the bottom or the 7 th  for a final of 11-12, AGAIN. Travis Alexander and Sean Behm each went 4 for 4 while 4 others chipped in with a pair of hits. The big blow in the first inning was a 3 run Home Run by James Wagner. The first 5 St. Paul batters hot hits and scored in that first inning. St. Paul is now 1-3 for the season. Next week’s game will be at Telfer at 6:30 against Berean Baptist. Come on out for a fun time and cheer on the team.
